In this series sponsored by ProWatercraftRacing.com, MotorActionMedia interviews talented and passionate athletes on their love for the sport and how ProWatercraftRacing.com handling components help them charge after their goals.
The team at ProWatercraftRacing.com turns the spotlight on Jessie Glennon, MotorActionMedia.com contributor and member of Jet Girls Racing in this #DrivenByPassion interview sponsored by ProWatercaftRacing.com.
Jessie, you have been riding Jet Skis since you were really little, what do you enjoy most about Jet Skiing?
The thing I enjoy most about Jet Skiing would have to be the experience and the people. You get to meet tons of people from all over the world, hang out and have fun. The experience is great because you get to meet all these big businesses and learn things from them and learn how their products benefit the Jet Ski industry.
I understand that you have made some really big improvements this year that everyone is talking about, could you tell me a little about how you worked to improve?
Well, over the summer my sister and I went down to our lake house and practiced a lot, but instead of riding buoys we just went out and rode and had fun trying to improve how we ride: like practicing turns and leaning the ski over. And after a while of riding I was able to figure out better form while using throttle and I was able to lean further in turns.
Before the 2015 World Finals, you raced an SX-R with no front sponsons, but you recently added Pro Watercraft Racing front sponsons before you raced Junior Ski 13-15. What changes did you notice? How did it help you?
I am really grateful to Pro Watercraft Racing for my new front sponsons, they made a huge difference. One of the first things I noticed was that the ski leaned over very easily and it made turns a lot smoother. It helped me because it was easier to lean over, without the front sponsons, I had trouble getting the ski to lean. My ski also used to porpoise a lot, adding the sponsons made it a lot more stable.
What other Pro Watercraft Racing handling components do you use? What do you like about them?
I also use a Pro Watercraft Racing.com ride plate along with the Pro Watercraft Racing.com front sponsons. The ride plate helps my ski ride smooth on the water and also helps so that it doesn’t porpoise. The ride plate also has a lot more grip than some of the other plates that I tried, so my ski doesn’t ever feel like it’s going to slide out when I turn.
Who is a role model for you and why?
My role model would have to be my sister, Anna Glennon, she’s a real trooper. She was an inch away from a world title and showed the world that a skinny kid can prove a point.
Do you think it’s important for a racer to have passion, if so, why?
It is really important for a racer to have passion because it really shows if you don’t. Racing is not all about winning; it’s about the foot print you leave behind and how you effect the Jet Ski industry and you need passion in order to leave a positive footprint.
What was your favorite part of the 2015 IJSBA World Finals?
My favorite part was getting to see all my sponsors and get to hang out with them and have a good time. I also got to see all my friends from all over the world and watch them race and cheer them on. I got to watch my sister race too.
Is there anyone you would like to thank?
I’d like to thank my sponsors: Chris Hagest at Pro Watercraft Racing.com, Crashforensics.com, Steve Webster & Dustin Motzouris at Kommander Industries, ADA Racing, Gasket Technology, Fly Racing, Oil Depot, Hurricane Industries, The Rad Dudes and Burn Industries. I also want to thank my mom & dad and sister for all their help.
