We discuss products, surf armor and expansion in an interview with the owner of OCD Solutions, Boyer Coulter.
Motor Action Media: Could you tell me a little bit about OCD Solutions? What would you consider your specialty to be?
OCD Solutions is dedicated to providing original, clean and dependable solutions for the Standup Jetski crowd. OCD is mostly known for building rugged and dependable bilge components, and we strive to add new parts and services each year.
MAM: What sets OCD Solutions apart from other companies in the industry?
OCD Solutions is more of a hobby than a business. We are based out of our home and decisions are made based on market needs and passion for the sport rather than bottom dollar and profit.
MAM: What are some of your most popular products?
Our most popular items are the Surf Armor Toggle switches and Tidy Bilge harness kits.
MAM. Can we look forward to anything new from OCD Solutions this year?
In addition to our recently released CDI Adjustable rev limiter mod, OCD will be introducing a few new services this year involving the testing of all Yamaha based electrical components including CDI’s, stators and complete systems. Whether it be a single component, a tote full of old parts or a complete system we can perform thorough testing so you know what parts you can trust and what you should throw away or send out for repair.
MAM: Tell me a little about what you are calling “Surf Armor” what is that?
Surf Armor is a line of products that is designed for riders who spend 100% of their ride time surf. Anyone who rides saltwater knows firsthand the effects that salt has on their ski and components and so we strive to build products from materials that will withstand the rigors of salt water abuse for years of faithful and dependable service.
MAM: Could you tell me about your process for making the awesome bilge switches that you sell?
The process is actually quite simple. We purchase switches that hold a mil spec rating already and then tailor them to suite our application. The bar mount CPI switches need only to have their leads extended and protected in loom where the Surf Armor Toggle gets leads soldered directly into the switch body and then fully encapsulated in a potting compound so they are just as sealed on the back side as they are on the front. We utilize a series of custom made molds to produce the composite bar mounts and Surf Armor switch body, all of which are made in house…or rather…garage.
MAM: Where can customers go to look at or purchase products from OCD Solutions?
You can check us out on Facebook. We regularly post up pictures and videos of projects we are working on.
MAM: Is there anything else you would like to tell the industry about your company?
Stay tuned! We are in the process of automating a lathe and milling center in an effort to bring CNC capability to our operation so we can continue to expand our product line.
