Racing action was nearly as hot as the weather in Reno/Sparks, NV for the Hidden Trails Pro Watercross National tour’s third round. Big line ups and talented racers complimented a beautiful race site. The Pro Ski GP class had a double gated line up with 16 riders in total. Kommander Industries/RM Racing rider David Redinger had incredible starts all weekend and would go on to lead the main event for several laps before Monster Energy/Bullett Chris MaClugage made a pass. MacClugage would move off this momentum and carry on to the victory. Kommander Industries/Rockstar Energy rider, Dustin Motzouris got caught up in the crowd of the start, but managed to work his way through the field to take second place in the main event on his Kommander Industries K-1 hull. Aaron Geweke made his debut to the Pro Watercross National Tour with a bang — the young rider jumped right in to a mix of legends and came out in third place in Pro Ski GP. Not only did Geweke do well in Pro Ski GP, but he also won Pro Sport GP — which featured a stacked line up as well.
While Geweke would go home with the win in Pro Sport GP, Team Faith’s Kelly Smith definitely gave the young racer a run for his money. Smith’s charge would get him into the second place spot on the podium, followed by Billy Dearman.
After some nasty luck in Florida, SeaDoo/Jettribe Erminio Iantosca was back on the track and hungry for victory. Iantosca would crush the competition with a massive lead and take home the overall in Pro Runabout Open after sweeping the weekend.
Other noteable riders include Josh Block, who tore a muscle in his arm during qualifying, but was still in the mix for the main event. Kyle Ariaza, who had impressive runs in Pro Ski Stock, and made his way to third place. Derrick Helm who also raced Pro Ski Stock, placed second behind Chris MacClugage (no small feat).
The Pro Watercross Tour now heads to St. George, Utah, for the fourth round of the Hidden Trails Pro Watercross National tour.
