SUNDAY SCOOP: Week of April 6, 2015

Motor Action Media gives you a week’s worth of action-packed personal watercraft news in one spot. Catch up on what happened the week of April 6, 2015.

KARUJET: French rider Jean-Baptiste Botti takes control of Karujet – one of the world’s most grueling endurance races. The Karujet race is a four day race around Guadeloupe. Botti took the overall Pro class win after four brutal days of racing. Also in the pro class, François Medori took second, Alain Tarzia took third, Carlini Kevin took fourth, Karim Vincent took fifth. The amateur class results are as follows: Christophe Dabricot, Wilfried Belizaire, William Laupeen.

“DOUBLE D” TAKES ON HOLLYWOOD: On Monday, World Champion Freestyler Daniel Martin informed everyone that he is currently in Hollywood, CA filming a commercial. While Daniel hasn’t dropped any hints as to what the commercial is about, this is an awesome opportunity to promote the personal watercraft industry.

THE RETURN OF THE PINK LADY: Talented British Jet Ski racer Anya Colley made the announcement that she will be returning to the US this year to compete in P1AquaX. She also announced her return to the Sea Doo team for 2015. Colley will be back on a Sea Doo and back in the US as one of the fastest chicks in the world. Good luck Anya!

MOTO-CROSSOVER: Pro Watercraft Racing wrapped up their ski overhaul project for big time motocross racers Destry Abbott and Taylor Robert. Pro Watercraft redid their Yamaha SuperJet and Kawasaski SX-R with custom Jettrim, IPD graphics and a Pro Watercraft handling set up. Both Roberts and Abbott are using and encouraging the incorporation of Jet Skis into training programs for dirtbike racing.

WAVEDAZE: Virginia Beach was invaded by Jet Ski racers from all over the U.S. for another year at Wavedaze. With talented freeriders like Jake Bright, Randy Lawlor and more, the weekend was full of epic tricks and antics. At this year’s freeride, Johnny Leftly did 3 consecutive backflips on a Rage Composites Havoc hull in the hotel swimming pool. This is supposedly the most consecutive flips to be performed in a pool. A video of Leftly’s stunt can be seen on the Rad Dudes Facebook page.

JETTRIBE BEST OF THE WEST GARY HART MEMORIAL RACE: Lake Havasu was packed with racers this weekend for the Gary Hart memorial race this weekend at Windsor Beach. Hundreds of racers were in attendance for this event and the beach was crammed full of Jet Skis of every make and model. The tight track made for quick lap times and close racing. Some of the riders that attended this race included: Mike Klippenstein, Kody Copenhaver, Stian Schjetlein, Blake Wicklund, Braden Wicklund, Mark Gomez, Tanner Thomas and more.
