BUILDING THE DREAM: living the dream

The past few months have been the busiest in my life. I had been working incredibly hard to break ground in a new field when I was suddenly presented the opportunity I was dreaming of — and I ran with it.

13315298_585508218292828_2084538486316050706_nFor months, I have been balancing school, my business, working toward a professional career in media, and training for a world championship. It has been my goal as of late to work toward getting involved with a professional motocross team, creating the kind of content you love seeing on pages like Jet Girls Racing. As the world becomes more and more involved with social media, it’s very important for corporations to do the same. By combining my love of powersports, sharing adventures, and my skills in creating cool content, I have been working to break ground in the professional motocross industry for a while.

I was greeted by his strong southern accent and an offer to work as the media manager for his team. At the time, I really had no idea what this would entail — but I took the job. Just a few weeks later, I was on a plane to Colorado for the Thunder Valley National. And I just got home yesterday from two-week trip with the TPJ Racing team. I travelled alongside the team as they competed at both the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series rounds at Highpoint in Pennsylvania and Muddy Creek in Tennessee.

The weather was brutal but the racing was incredible. I marched all up and down the muddy hills of the tracks and shot pictures, filmed and supported the team. When I wasn’t getting pelted with roost, I was getting the full race experience in the TPJ Racing pit. With Ted Parks around, you never know who will pop by. I met some incredible people in the industry and felt like a part of the giant racing family.

Even though I am just the media manager, Boss Man has always told me to13432138_593815647462085_1014771602849532161_n lend a hand, so I also went through the grueling process of setting up and tearing down at the races. Power washing and polishing the rig, setting up a dozen canopies, tables, chairs and more — all with the reward of a great looking pit space at the races for the racers to enjoy.

I am extremely thankful to Ted & Kathy Parks for giving me the opportunity to make a giant step toward my dreams, and providing me with the necessary tools to gain incredible experiences. I love my weekends with my second racing family — can’t wait for the next one.

As busy as I have been, I haven’t forgotten about my commitment to Jet Ski racing. I have been riding and training whenever I have a spare moment (I even went to the gym with the riders while I was on my trip). And for everyone who has been asking, I will be racing this season — and the Boss Man and I intend to kick butt and take names. My skis are in incredible condition thanks to all of his hard work, and the help of my sponsors, and I am feeling strong and fast. I am looking forward to our first race so that I can gauge my progress and continue to work to improve toward our goal of winning a world championship.
