I AM #DRIVENBYPASSION: Anna Glennon

In this series sponsored by ProWatercraftRacing.com, MotorActionMedia interviews talented and passionate athletes on their love for the sport and how ProWatercraftRacing.com handling components help them charge after their goals.

The crew at ProWatercraftRacing.com turns the spotlight on MotorActionMedia.com owner, Anna Glennon, in this article as a part of the #DrivenbyPassion series by asking her the same questions as other athletes featured in the series.

How did you get involved in Jet Ski Racing?

My dad has owned and ridden Jet Skis since he was just a teenager, he is definitely the one who got me into it. When I was just a baby, I would ride my grandpa’s old Sea Doo with my family. I would drag my life vest around and cry and beg for rides. I practically grew up on that Sea Doo until my dad bought me a JS 440 when I was 14. He helped me build it and taught me how to ride it. My dad took my sister Jessie and I to a local race, and we decided we wanted to try. We came out the following year and raced a Kawasaki SX and SXI-Pro, not long after, my dad surprised my with what is now my race boat, the Triple Seven.

Do you think passion is important to an athlete’s career? What keeps you passionate, even when times get rough?

Passion is one of the most important characteristics for any athlete, in any sport. One of the best tennis players in the world said that “being a professional athlete is one of the worst jobs in the world; you push yourself to extreme and can ruin your body. You’re sore, you break and bend, sometimes you get stepped on… but you don’t stop. It’s that passion that will keep you going even when you may feel broken or beat.” When a person is passionate, it gives them strength. I’ve been through a few rough patches here or there, but the thousands of people who love what I am doing keeps me passionate. I work a lot to promote the sport, and when people are grateful it fills my heart up. And as far as racing, I have such a wonderful team that has never stopped believing in me; I can’t thank those people enough!

My race skis are amazing – really. I am so fortunate to have an awesome mechanic who works endlessly to make sure my machines are dialed in. My dad has done all the work on my skis, top to bottom. As a team we are extrmely blessed to have resources like Steve Webster from Kommander Industries and Chris Hagest from Pro Watercraft Racing.com who have shared so much knowledge with us on handling and performance. We have a pretty awesome fleet of race skis, my two Women’s Ski Limited machines are decked out with complete Pro Watercraft Racing.com handling packages, including front sponsons, rear sponsons, rideplates and Pro Watercraft Racing.com -style Jettrim tray mats. Both of these skis have beefy Boss Man-built engines with tons of Kommander Industries and ADA Racing goodies inside. I also have an 1100 SX-R that is also set up with a Pro Watercraft handling package including front and rear sponsons, rideplate and tray mats. These machines are all really amazing, we were riding 440s and 550s just a few years ago, I can’t believe how far we have come!

How does your Pro Watercraft Racing.com handling package help you as a rider?

I weigh in at a whopping 90lbs, so I had always struggled against the weight of my skis. The Pro Watercraft Racing.com handling components have helped stabilize and smooth my ride. From the handling components alone I have been able to improve my game tremendously. Without spending extra energy fighting a bucking Jet Ski, I can focus on crushing the competition!!

Is there anything you would like to add?

Thanks to the guys at Pro Watercraft Racing.com I have learned that you can have all the horsepower in the world, but it won’t mean a thing if you can’t tame the horses. Handling performance is equally as important as power and speed, and these guys understand that concept on a higher level. If you need help, you definitely need to talk to the experts.
