SUNDAY SCOOP: Week of April 20

Motor Action Media gives you a week’s worth of action-packed personal watercraft news in one spot. Catch up on what happened the week of April 13th.

 

DJSA KICKOFF: Another popular west coast racing series kicked off its season over the weekend. DJSA held it’s first race, the “Ice Breaker” at Camp Far West in Wheatland, CA. A packed lineup and big classes was a great way to start the season. DJSA introduced the new audible starting system this weekend, something that no other promotor has used. The next DJSA race will be June 6, at Mossdale Lakes in Lathrop, CA.

IT’S OFFICIAL: Kommander Industries releases photos of the Kommander K-1 hull in action in Phoenix, AZ (see above). The anticipation to see this machine in action is high as we wait for the first round of the Pro Watercross National Tour. Kommander Industries is expected to officially debut this new hull at the first round in Panama City, FL.

 

BRINGING THE HEAT: Another round of the SAJSBA Nationals went down at Richards Bay, Pelican Island in South Africa. Riders like Shante Bukes, Jared Moore, Tyron Motzouris, Marcel and John de Ponte, Dwayne Hayes and tons more were on site and killing the course. Some of the world’s best riders have honed their skills here.

 

NOTHING ELSE MATTERS: AquaX launched what may be the biggest series of the year this weekend. An intense round of racing in Daytona Beach, FL, brought racers from all over the country to Florida for some extreme offshore racing. Team Yamaha brought extreme competition with riders like Brian Baldwin, Troy Snyder, Aero and Aqsa Aswar, Rob Greenwald and more. One of their rivals, Sea Doo, brought the heat with Erminio Iantosca, Eric Lagopoulos, Claude Clayton and Anya Colley. Team Kawasaki returned with reigning 300 Class Champion, Eric Francis. AquaX also featured a packed Stand up class and a newly-added Sport class. Johnny Smith took the overall win in the stand up division, Glen Jung won the sport division, David Gorie won the runabout 250 division and Aqsa Aswar won the runabout 300 division. BLOWSION: Blowsion announced the relaunch of their website this week. Outside of this big announcement, Blowsion also announced testing on the Blowsion RC1 1100. This is a unique machine that has ben designed by Rickter Composites and features a motor package by Blowsion. We look forward to hearing more about it.

 

FLO’ IS ON A ROLL: Rob Flores released yet another announcement regarding his new Raceski.com hulls. His partnership with Yamaha racing has lead to the development of the world’s first wide tray Yamaha stand up watercraft. Flores continues to develop this new hull, along with his new SX-R hull. We look forward to seeing this hull perform on the Pro Watercross tour this season with Rob Flores riding it.
