SPOTLIGHT: Jared Wallach

By special request — an interview with power boat racer Jared Wallach.

unnamed-3Jared, boat racing isn’t a typical extra curricular. Could you tell me how you got involved in the sport?

Well ever since I was a baby, I have been attending boat races watching my Dad and Uncle race the same class I am now (SST-45). When I finally turned nine, my Dad brought me home a J hydro and I have been racing ever since that. Locally, I race in the Western Formula Lights Series. There are about five stops on the tour and it is based on a cumulative points system. However, if I race back east there are a few other series that I would compete in such as Powerboat Nationals and USF1.

How has your season been so far? Any particular highlights?

My season has been good so far, trying to finish it out on high note at the last upcoming race in San Diego. I would say the highlight of the season is when I went back east to Louisiana and got a third in a full field of boats.

What’s left of the season — do you have any goals in mind?

Our next race is San Diego and I definitely want to finish this year off strong!

Could you give me some insight on your boat? Make and model, engine?

I race a class called SST-45, which consists of a twelve-foot tunnel boat with a two cylinder OMC 44.9 cubic inch (740 cc) engine. My boat is a 2000 Love Craft wood hull with a Seebold capsule.

unnamed-1There are a lot of dangerous power sports out there, and boat racing seems particularly high on the list. What keeps you coming back?

That is a good question, I guess the thrill and adrenaline always keeps me strapping back in the boat. Nothing like trying to fly the boat above the water in the straightaway and then slamming it hard in the turns. It is definitely addictive.

Also, it is a great feeling when all of your hard work begins to pay off and the good results follow.

I understand that you are sponsored by JetRenu. What is your go-to Jet Renu product, and why?

Tough one, as I use a lot of their products quite a bit. Narrowing it down to one product, I would have to say the Pink. I use that stuff every time I come in after a race and leaves my boat looking brand new every time. Love that stuff!

Would you recommend any other JetRenu products to your fellow racers?

Definitely, all their products are great. Whether it is the Clear glass cleaner, Purple wash and wax, Yellow degreaser, or even Pet Renu for my dogs, all of their products work flawlessly.

I have to thank Clover Construction and Spencer Love for giving me this opportunity to race his boat, Jet Renu for always being there for me and giving me great products, Security Racing Products, and Armenian Navy. Also, I would like to thank my parents for letting me race and always supporting me whatever I strap myself into, my crew chief Tony, and all my friends who always help me out. I could not do what I do without the help of each of these people.
